Mad Dog - surprised you've got time to post on here, what with all that lesson planning and marking that takes up every spare second of your existence.

Glad you enjoyed your 7 weeks.

Re: Teachers
Exactly.
There are brilliant teachers and poor ones.
Like brilliant football players and poor ones.
Or any other fucking skill or profession you might consider.
Teachers get the brunt of political fingering as much as many professions but more often that not the private sector get less fingering. Obvs education and health will be always have its standards and obligations like any other profession but constant chopping and changing due to the current policy of the fuckwits in parliament seems pretty harsh on some professions.

Re: Teachers
There's no "hate crime" on this thread. What a bizarre line of argument.

What there does seem to be on WHO generally is a large contingent of people who bear quite a bit of malice and resentment towards teachers. This type of thread crops up on a regular basis.

As I said before, my other half's family is full of teachers. While her cousin is a fucking prick who deserves a monumental slap, he's not a fucking prick because he's a teacher, he just is and always has been. None of the others bang on about how they have the hardest job in the world, in my experience.

They just portray a profession which has its good and its bad parts, same as many other people do. I've come across plenty of people from other private sector professions through my career who bang on about their jobs non-stop and moan about how put upon they are.

So, maybe there are just moaners in every profession, eh?

Has it escaped you in the news recently about the 1% pay cap on public sector staff? only a small minority (the senior civil servants) are seen as overpaid, the rest like teachers, to quote May, are JAMS. Please adjust your ill informed and childish idea of public sector workers.

13br, i can assure you no perks are as good as the pensions public sector workers get...but oddly they still moan about it all being unfair

You are the only person on this thread who has made any reference to 'hate crime'. Why do you keep banging on about it as if it is a term being collectively used?

I don't get the hatred by many on here for teachers, it's just I'll informed and childish. Some teachers I work with are up themselves, have a sense of entitlement etc. but that is the same anywhere. They (mostly) all work very hard during term time too and far from being cushy In the public sector, everyone is doing 2 or 3 jobs (if they are lucky enough to still have a job) now because of the constant cuts.
As for the holidays, what are they supposed to do when schools are closed? I am not "term time only" as I am support staff and there is still plenty to do but not for teachers.
The private sector is well cusy though, highly / over paid and loads of perks you don't get in the public sector.

13 x 5 isn't 85 if that helps.
And take 7 out of 8 bank holidays. So it's actually 58.

Still a fair bit. But as a maths teacher incorrect multiplication irks me.

And I had a lovely 7 weeks off thanks.

Don't know if it's the same in England, but my mate lives in Oslo and over there, you can chose the bloke in a relationship to take the maternity leave instead of the woman.

He's also a teacher and so when they had their kid, he had his 8 weeks school summer holiday followed by 5 months maternity leave!!

Lazy cunt.
